Back in 2020, the first year of the coronavirus pandemic made life extremely difficult for everyone. It felt like a nightmare, losing the startup company I had been working on for nearly three years with full dedication due to the restrictions and the resulting situation. When the measures tightened even further, my first business was also hit hard because all exhibitions were shut down, and we were forced to stay home, unable to leave the house.
„Freedom is possessing the mindset to move“
Marc Wibbels
I looked at the globe and realized there were only two countries where movement was still relatively free: Mexico and Tanzania. The decision was easy—I packed my bicycle and tent and left. I remember that just a few hours after landing, the fear of contamination completely vanished. There were no signs of anything virus-related. I packed up my bike and headed north, leaving the bustling city of Dar es Salaam behind.
At the beginning, I had no idea what kind of journey I was about to embark on. If I were to put it into words, it would take a book full of unbelievable stories—stories I wouldn’t have believed myself if I hadn’t experienced them.
For now, though, I’ll let the stories rest where they are and just share a few pictures from the road.
I love Tanzania. It was intense, and I’m grateful for everything I experienced here. Unbelievable.
